Pregis receives FSC Chain of Custody Mix certification for Easypack paper produced in Stevenage, UK

The company has been granted FSC License Code No. FSC-C151114 for its Stevenage, U.K. facility. Pregis' Plymouth, Indiana plant was certified last year.

The certification is for 100% recycled-content, single and multiply-paper produced at Stevenage. The paper, which ranges from 50-gram single ply to 52/90-gram multi-ply, is primarily used in conjunction with Easypack by Pregis machines to produce void-fill, cushioning and blocking/bracing protective packaging. It can be molded to the shape of just about any product from fragile glassware to heavy industrial products such as automotive parts or plumbing supplies. The paper packaging is both lightweight and strong, helping to secure products in place during transit.

"European consumers are extremely environmentally conscious. Most make purchasing decisions based on what choices will minimize the carbon footprint. Providing fulfillment operations with products that meet tough FSC certification criteria is just one more way that brand owners can signal to consumers that responsible material selections have been made," said Paul van Dijk, product director of paper systems, Pregis.

The FSC chain of custody (COC) is the path taken by products from the forest, or in the case of recycled materials from the moment when the material is reclaimed, to the point where the product is sold with an FSC claim and/or it is finished and FSC labelled. The COC includes each stage of sourcing, processing, trading, and distribution where progress to the next stage of the supply chain involves a change of product ownership.
