At Pregis, protecting trees is part and parcel of our everyday work. Over the last five years alone, our Easypack customers have saved over 1 million new trees from being cut down through the use of our 100% recycled paper.
Like us, our customers not only help to protect trees, but together we help prevent further deforestation which is highly damaging to eco-systems.
Strong protection for in-the-box packaging
Paper is strong because it is produced by the pressed fibres of cellulose pulp derived from wood. As well as being strong, it is versatile, durable and sustainable. All of these qualities make paper an ideal medium for protecting goods in transit, but there are even more benefits to using paper.
Paper is a sustainable product, but recycled paper is even better because no new trees are cut down to produce it. Paper is also 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable so it will cause no harm to the environment and can be recycled over and over.
Can paper protect heavy or even fragile goods?
There are a variety of protective products such as Air and Foam that are purpose-built to protect heavy or fragile products. However, paper can offer some cushioning properties, as well. Under compression, paper does a sufficient job of maintaining its structural integrity. With that said, Pregis’ Easypack® range of paper systems have the potential to leverage material strength and flexibility to supplement the protection of heavy industrial goods, or delicate items such as glass or ceramics.
Easypack systems and consumables are also globally certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This means that our materials meet a strict set of environmental and social standards set by the FSC to ensure that Pregis - and its customers - are maximising efforts to protect the planet.
What’s the difference between recycled paper and virgin paper?
Firstly, virgin paper (or board) is produced from chemical pulp, whereas our recycled paper is free of chemicals or oil-based products. Our recycled paper is also PH neutral so it is not harmful to the environment if it does reach the landfill.
No new trees are cut down to produce our recycled paper. It also uses up to 60% less energy and water to produce than Kraft paper and it is compliant with European packaging regulations. So, if you’re going to switch to paper packaging, it makes sense to choose environmentally friendly recycled paper over Kraft paper.
Certification
Pregis' paper is 100% recycled, 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable. We are ISO 140001 accredited and our paper complies with EU packaging regulations. Pregis' paper also comes with a certificate that outlines all of the benefits that recycled paper offers, which can be shared with your customers.
Our customers also receive an annual tree certificate that shows how many trees they save each year through the use of our environmentally-friendly recycled paper - a fantastic brand message to share with customers.
